Entech

March / April 2008

It was hard to find fault in this year's ENTECH event.

Held every two years (the perfect frequency for a domestic trade show) at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre (conveniently located on Darling Harbour’s pleasant waterfront), organizers Exhibitions and Trade Fairs Pty Ltd had managed to attract a strong turnout of exhibitors and visitors, making for a substantial and worthwhile show.

“This year the support from the industry was overwhelming”, said Event Manager Louise Brooks. “On February 11, ENTECH opened its doors to a crowded foyer of industry visitors, media and seminar attendees. The initial buzz was encouraging and I am happy to report a 10% increase in visitor attendance with a total number of 3,695 visitors attending ENTECH 2008 over the three show days.”

“There was an amazing array of new products and impressive exhibitor displays and, with the help of the industry, ENTECH 2008 also offered visitors a number of seminar and workshop.”

Yamaha Commercial Audio were among those presenting workshops.

“We were pleased to be part of the strongest ever Yamaha presence at an ENTECH show in 2008,” said Yamaha’s Shaun Herberg. “Witnessing the sheer enthusiasm and attentiveness of registered trainees in our PM5D, Network Audio and M7CL/LS9 workshops was very satisfying. Our trainers valued the privilege of conducting their seminars to capacity attendances.”

Not dissuaded by 24 hours on an aeroplane, there was once again a strong European contingent present – their attendance to support local distributors and reps an implicit endorsement of the show.

Perhaps it was the sudden euphoric surge in vitamin D brought on by the Australian sun, but these visitors from ‘up north’ were all complementary of ENTECH’s professionalism. Many familiar euro-faces could be found on the stand of first time exhibitor Lighthouse Distribution.

“Lighthouse Distribution’s inaugural attendance at ENTECH was a great success,” reported Aeriana Lay. “The Lighthouse Bar housed LEDs from DTS and CLS as well as an Optikinetics clock. On either side of the bar were lighthouses with moving fixtures from Clay Paky and DTS.” They demonstrated control of the Chamsys lighting consoles using touch panels from Crestron Control Solutions.

UDG Gear had special guest DJ Carl Cox on the stand on Tuesday the 12th. The UDG team said that the show “provided a nice snapshot of the entertainment technology industry in Australia and gave great insight into what is to come products-wise.”

ULA reported “an unprecedented number of visitors to the ULA stand”, drawn by the exclusive launch of the VuePix High Resolution video screens. The range was an immediate hit, “with orders flooding in right throughout the show. The iLED range sparked great interest – an indicator of how the lighting market is moving.

Demonstration and training of W-DMX technology by Wireless Solution’s International Sales Manager Niclas Arvidsson, received a huge response, as did the Australian launch of the new Avolites Pearl Tiger console by Dave Parry.”

Audio Telex reported a lot of interest in the new Australian Monitor Rack ‘n’ Roll cases and Turbosound Impact speakers. The other talk-about product was Lab.gruppen’s new PLM Powered Loudspeaker Management System, combining cutting edge technologies from Dolby Lake and Lab.gruppen.

ENTECH 2010 will run from February 15-17, 2010 at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre.
