Bar and events operator Mothership Group, owner of East London’s thriving venues The Book Club, Queen of Hoxton, Stories and the iconic Brighton seafront venue Patterns, have acquired Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen. Mothership Group turns over £10m per annum and host over 1000 cultural and music events per year across its venues, with a combined social media reach of over 200,000.
Mothership Group is thrilled with the acquisition. Commercial Director, Jon Ross, said: “We’ve been huge fans of the Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen for many years. It’s a great bar in a world-famous square and we’re really excited about taking it on. It has an amazing history with some of the best bands on today’s scene having broken there and we’re looking forward to continuing and adding to that story.”
The group will be committing time and energy to ensure the venue remains a well-loved and vital live music establishment by working closely with staff, promoters and other stakeholders. For the time being, the venue will operate as is, with a few cosmetic tweaks and a return to its artistic roots. Jon said: ‘We may look to make some changes to the site over the coming months but whatever we do, the site will stay as a lynchpin of the live scene in East London.”
“Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen has been at the heart of East London’s music scene since it’s opening in 2001 and many of the biggest and best loved bands in the world have played here early in their careers. It’s exciting to be working with Mothership Group, known for their unique and innovative events, in continuing Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen’s legacy.”
