The world-renowned London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) is updating its home venue of St. Luke’s with wireless intercom systems from Clear-Com to help the historic venue’s technical crews work more efficiently, save time and reduce production costs.
Like much of the live event industry, the LSO and St. Luke’s are adapting their production capabilities to accommodate a hybrid mix of in-person, venue-based events and remote livestreams. The comms upgrade at St. Luke’s is based on Clear-Com’s award-winning FreeSpeak II® Digital Wireless Intercom System.
“The system provides a full feature set and is easy to expand. Future plans include integration with Clear-Com’s HelixNet and LQ Series of IP Interfaces, with the potential addition of the Agent-IC Mobile App for remote production. These additions will fulfill their existing comms requirements and future-proof the venue,” said Ben Tredwell, Project Development Manager, Solotech in the UK. Tredwell has a long-standing relationship with Clear-Com and has integrated a wide range of Clear-Com products in many venues.
According to systems integrator, Solotech—who has worked extensively with both the LSO and Clear-Com in the past – the modular FreeSpeak II system is an ideal match for the venue, offering the most flexibility for cost-effective expansion and allowing them to configure a system by installing only the components their technical team needs most immediately, with plans of futher expansion to follow.
The symphony had recently been doing more web-streamed events and as these grew in scale and complexity, it became evident that an upgrade to a more fully featured communications system was needed to facilitate higher quality performances, ease of use and scalability to accommodate future growth.
“The flexibility and modularity of the Clear-Com technologies are allowing LSO and St. Luke’s to manage their installation budget by phasing in the new system at their own pace, while continuing to work seamlessly with their FreeSpeak II system,” concludes Tredwell.
The Solotech installation team worked alongside the LSO to ensure a smooth transition to the new system and will continue doing so in the next phases of the comms system upgrade process.
