CHAUVET Professional team members have never been more proud of a lighting display than they were at 9 pm on September 1, when about 100 of their fixtures were turned on instantly bathing their world headquarters in brilliant reds as part of WeMakeEvents’ North American-wide RedAlertRESTART.
This sequence of events was repeated three hours later, at the company’s Las Vegas Satellite facility. The team gathered there experienced the same emotional reaction.
“Just as it is for others in our industry, this was a very moving and personal moment for us,” said Albert Chauvet, CEO of Chauvet. “We grew up in this industry and we saw many of our customers grow right along with us. They are really more than customers to us. They are colleagues and in many cases, good friends. Seeing how the pandemic has impacted the lives of so many in our industry has affected all of us very deeply.”
Like his team, Chauvet is fully supportive of the RedAlertRESTART campaign to raise awareness of the issues facing those who work at live events, and to implore the US Congress to pass the RESTART Act (S.3814), which promises to bring economic relief to the industry’s members.
The campaign’s organizers originally hoped to light 1,500 buildings across North America in red. More recent estimates have the actual number at twice that amount. Many of these buildings are massive structures, others are famous landmarks, but for the crowd gathered at the Chauvet HQ parking lot, thinking of industry friends on this warm summer night, nothing was quite as moving as seeing their home glow red.
