City Theatrical announces that QolorFLEX 4×2.5A Dimmers are providing the dimming
control for the award-winning starry sky ceiling feature at the George S. and Dolores Doré
Eccles Theatre, a Broadway-style urban performing arts centre in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Francesca Bettridge, Principal of Cline Bettridge Bernstein Lighting Design (CBBLD) and lighting design lead for the project said: “City Theatrical’s QolorFLEX 4×2.5A Dimmers were our choice for Eccles Theatres starry sky feature lighting for some important reasons”.
The City Theatrical QolorFLEX 4×2.5A Dimmers are installed at 120 feet above the ground across 78 metal frames in the theatre’s ceiling. They are set up in nine different dimmable zones to allow for random control and cross-fading of the hundreds of tiny, star-like, low voltage LED lights, which are installed as two-layered LED strings over the same metal frames in the ceiling.
Francesca added: “The dimmers have the best dimming range for a low voltage DC product, there are lots of options for setting curve and dimming cycle rates, and we had great support from City Theatrical throughout the project – so necessary for a successful project.”
This complex dimming scheme relies on a total of 78 City Theatrical QolorFLEX 4×2.5A Dimmers. It offers visiting lighting designers a variety of effects based on each dimmer’s unique starting DMX address, to deliver the desired control they need to create organic-looking effects.
