GSL Professional has held a Studer Week event as an alternative to exhibiting in CABSAT 2016. The exclusive UAE Harman distributor was notably absent from this years show, as was the manufacturer Studer along with a number of other high profile names. However, GSL Professional counteracted this with a partnering with Studer to hold Studer Week as a more hands on alternative.
Delegates had a number of different events over three days to choose from. Day one saw Studer Ambassador Tibor Tamas give an overview on Studer updates such as the Infinity Core and was aimed at broadcast professionals. Day two saw a huge response to the open training on the Vista X, also undertaken by Tibor Tamas. GSL Professional’s Ibrahim Shishani was on hand to assist in demoing other mixing consoles on display such as the Vista 1 and the Soundcraft Vi3000. The final day was one to one appointments for a number of broadcasters in the region to have a custom demo or talk through their own future plans.
Jaime Collins, PR and Marketing Manager for GSL Professional said of the event: “We saw a great turn out and also a great reaction to us holding Studer Week, we wanted to do something a bit different this year with our events and exhibitions and I am very pleased with the outcome of this first event. It enables our customers or potential customers to have a more detailed conversation that can’t always be achieved at exhibitions, this event was really about being able to provide more for them and I think we have certainly achieved this.”
Ibrahim Shishani, recording and broadcast executive for GSL Professional also praised the event: “We were able to have a lot more direct conversations by holding the event in this way, it was a bit of a gamble to not have any presence at CABSAT this year but I think it paid off for both us and Studer.”
Basheer Saad, MBC group audio supervisor said: “Thanks to both GSL Professional and Studer for putting on the event. For the MBC team it was a great addition to the CABSAT event and worked really well the week after so we were able to attend both and give it our full focus. It was a great opportunity to get a more hands on approach that is sometimes too rushed at an exhibition. The private one to one appointments were also extremely useful.”
